BYOB Petition Will Take Place in OC
Registered voters of Ocean City, NJ will be able to decide the future of the dry towns’ stance on alcohol in November. Ocean City has drummed up its “family friendly” environment for years by banning alcohol from the city in an effort to appeal to a larger demographic and distance itself from popular party spots such as Atlantic City and Wildwood. This new petition, however, could make way for a big change to the longstanding policy of the city.
The Ocean City Restaurant Association has announced that six restaurants will be able to allow people to bring their own bottles of liquor to their establishments during specified by varying times throughout the week. Cousin’s Restaurant, The Flying Carp Gift Gallery, Captain Bob’s Seafood, Butterfly Boutique Shop, The Chatterbox, and Scully’s Restaurant will be very interested in the outcome of the petition as they are the lucky six that will become BYOBs if the referendum passes.
Ocean City has established a hotline number, 609-432-8375 for anyone with questions or clarifications.
