“Brew Masters” on Discovery Channel to air Sunday November 21st at 10pm
Hosted by the founder of one of America’s most favored craft breweries, Dogfish Head, Sam Calagione and Co. takes his show on the road in a new series on the Discovery channel, justly named “Brew Masters”.
The series airs on Sunday, November 21st at 10pm and will feature Sam traveling the world in search of unique and unorthodox ingredients to brew beer with. Challenging the norms of traditional brewing, Sam’s passion of experimenting with the different flavors that unconventional ingredients bring is what makes Dogfish Head beer so popular, with more than 75,000 barrels brewed annually.
These unusual beers include Dogfish Head’s “Ancient Ales” which are created from the chemical analysis of pottery and drinking vessels found on archaeological digs, and will also be featured on the television series. These Ale’s include; Midas Touch Golden Elixir which is brewed from residue found on drinking vessels found in the tomb of King Midas, as well as Chateau Jiahu, which is the oldest known brewed beer recipe in the world dating back to the 7th millennium BC.
Other focal points include the creation of Dogfish Head’s “Bitches Brew” for the 40th anniversary of Miles Davis’ famous recording, along with additional odd ingredients including; mussels, chocolate, and a tomato based brew, as well as Sam Calagione’s venture with three other popular craft brewers and Mario Batali to open an Italian based rooftop brewpub in New York City.
Most importantly, “Brew Masters” puts the fast growing American craft beer movement in the spotlight on the Discovery Channel. Educating the world that beer can be as diverse and enjoyable as any beverage, food, or art, Brew Masters culminates into the “ultimate beer tasting road trip” and will be a must watch for any beer lover.
