Where to Find Holiday Cocktails on a Winter Trip to the Shore

by Robin Shreeves on Dec 9, 2015 in Roundups

If you’re heading down the Jersey Shore this holiday season, some of the best year-round restaurants are serving up seasonal cocktails to help you celebrate. Here’s a roundup of drinks from some of Southern New Jersey’s best shore towns to hit during the colder months.

Located at The Virginia Hotel in Cape May, The Ebbitt Room is celebrating the holiday season with The Virginia Cosmopolitan for $12. The festive cocktail (pictured above) features vodka, lime juice, Cointreau, and muddled cranberries and is garnished with a lime wheel, sugared cranberries, and a spruce sprig for the ultimate holiday touch.

The Ebbitt Room’s Bar and Lounge opens daily at 4 PM for cocktails and serves small plates, appetizers, and desserts from 5 PM. Happy Hour begins is Monday through Friday 4–6 PM, and includes half priced beer and wine by the glass. Dinner is served in the dining room starting at 5 PM. (25 Jackson St., Cape May; 609-884-5700)

Diamond Beach’s Marie Nicole’s Grill ushers in the holidays with Santa’s Little Helper ($14). A generous pour of Rose’s Single Batch Bourbon is shaken with Laird’s Applejack and sweet vermouth and then strained into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnished with a cinnamon stick and orange twist.

Marie Nicole’s is open in the cooler months Thursday through Sunday starting at 5 PM. Happy Hour is daily from 5–7 PM. (9510 Pacific Ave., Wildwood Crest; 609-522-5425)
The Brown Room
Just a couple blocks away from The Ebbitt Room is The Brown Room in Congress Hall. This 1930s inspired cocktail bar celebrates the season with a Smoked S’mores Martini (pictured above) at $11. This seasonal martini mixes vanilla infused vodka, smoked Smirnoff Caramel Vodka, Traders Chocolate Liqueur, and toasted almond syrup and is served in a glass with a crushed cinnamon toast crunch rim topped with mini marshmallows.

The Brown Room is open Monday–Thursday 5 PM–12 AM, Friday and Saturday 11 AM–1 AM, and Sunday 11 AM–12 AM. Small plates are available Sunday–Wednesday from 5–9 PM. (251 Beach Ave., Cape May; 609-884-8421)

This tequila bar at Harrah’s Resort celebrates with its creation the ‘Making Spirits Bright’ Breakfast Margarita ($10). Kale leaves, cucumber, lime, a granny smith apple, ginger, mint, and pineapple juice are all pureed and strained before silver tequila and coconut liqueur are added. This refreshingly bright margarita is then garnished with cucumber, mint sprigs, and chile-lime salt.

Brunch is served on Saturdays from 12–4 PM. The Bar opens at 5 PM Sunday, Wednesday–Friday, and 12 PM on Saturday. Happy Hour is Wednesday– Friday 5–7 PM. (777 Harrah's Blvd., Atlantic City, 609-441-5747)

Sammy D’s
At Harrah’s Resort, Sammy D’s is serving up a Winter Wonderland (pictured right) in a glass for $12. The Winter Wonderland is vanilla vodka, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Licor 43, and candy cane syrup served “up” in a martini glass lined with chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream and holiday sprinkles.

Sammy D’s is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7 AM–2 PM and 5–11 PM, Tuesday 7 AM–2 PM, Friday and Saturday 7 AM–1 AM, and Sunday 7 AM–11 PM. (777 Harrah's Blvd., Atlantic City; 609-441-5402)

This speakeasy at Atlantic City Bottle Company has a Cinnamon Crème Pie cocktail for the season also priced at $12. Fireball, Fugu Horchata Cinnamon, vanilla vodka, and half and half are shaken well, served on the rocks, and finished with a sprinkle of cinnamon and star anise. We recommend leaving this out with Santa’s cookies this year instead of milk.

The Iron Room is open Tuesday–Thursday 3–10 PM, Friday 3 PM–2 AM, Saturday 3–11 PM, and Sunday again from 3–10 PM. Daily Happy Hour specials run from 3–6:30 PM. (648 N Albany Ave., Atlantic City; 609-348-6400)
