Inflatable Irish Pub Is the Bouncy Castle of Your Dreams

by Ryan Hudak on Jun 18, 2015 in Culture

It has happened to every adult. You’re sitting at some crappy kid’s birthday party and the parents have sprung for a giant inflatable bouncy castle. You have a few beers, and then look longingly at the castle and think, "Man, those things were fun. I wish I could get in there without pulling a muscle/shattering a joint/looking like a kid toucher." And then you go back to doing boring adult things.

But no longer! The inflatable bar has entered America thanks to The PaddyWagon Pub. While it is only available in Boston, the company hopes it will gain popularity as it has in England and Ireland so they can expand throughout more cities in the US. While the “pub” is meant to mimic a traditional Irish pub, what it boils down to is a giant inflatable tent for your backyard. Now, if said tent is air conditioned, it might be worth your while, but unless you live in the suburbs and have a sizable yard, you’re probably not going to worry much about it.

In case having an inflatable tent in your backyard isn’t enough to excite you, the company can also add on different levels of Irish-ness, including a customizable list of Irish food like shepherd’s pie, beef stew, and soda bread, or Irish drinks. And if that isn’t quite Irish enough for you, you can tack on some entertainment options like traditional Irish step-dancers and even a few Irish wolfhounds to hang around with.

But what if you want a huge inflatable bar for your wedding, corporate event, or backyard party that isn’t Irish themed? You’ll just have to wait for now. No word on whether the inflatable obnoxious club with inflatable VIP area and bottle service is in the works or if you’ll be able to blow up a grimy corner dive bar in your backyard. Hopefully, they will happen soon, because who wants to sit in the sun and breeze while they have a drink outside when you can bring that dark tavern atmosphere to your house anytime you want?
