People all want different things from New Year's Eve parties, so whether you're planning a romantic dinner out or you want to drink until your liver feels like the Mayans' predictions came true, here is a guide that can help you find every kind of party in Portland.

Acadia
5–10 PM; $65
A five-course menu with dishes like a 35-day dry-aged NY strip will be served, and the last seating gets a free Champaign toast at midnight (1303 NE Fremont St.; 503-249-5001)

Ambonnay
4 PM–close; PAYG
Portland’s first dedicated sparkling wine bar will be pouring six special magnums throughout the evening, all of which are rarely available by the glass (107 SE Washington Street; 503-575-486).

Andina

Bossanova Ballroom

Champagne Ball

The 22nd annual Champagne Ball is the most classic NYE party you’ll find in town. Party hats, balloons, confetti, Champagne and plenty of noise making party favors to use during the big countdown. Best of all, you can justify your hangover with the fact that proceeds benefit the Children’s Cancer Association. Go ahead, drink for the kids. If your idea of a night out for NYE means fireworks, cocktails and the best party hits of the past year, reserve your spot at Departure. This rooftop bar’s great downtown view is the perfect vantage point from which to see fireworks, and to celebrate 2013 the bar is going “Gangnam Style” with K-Pop on the decks and a four-course family style menu of traditional Korean New Year’s dishes (525 SW Morrison St.; 503-802-5370).

EastBurn

Holocene
