Cuba Libre AC Toasts to 10 Years with November Specials
While celebrity chefs and upscale concepts have come and gone in Atlantic City in the last few years, Guillermo Pernot’s Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar has remained a boardwalk mainstay for the past decade. And that’s reason to celebrate.
As one of four Cuba Libre locations-- including its original homefront in Philadelphia-- the restaurant and rum bar serves traditional Cuban drinks and plates with a modern twist. Pernot has earned a James Beard award for best chef, and the Atlantic City location has gained a reputation for its lively atmosphere, salsa music and a menu that runs every weekend until 4 AM. This Tropicana hot spot is pulling out all the stops for its tenth anniversary with a month of drink and food pairing specials.
“We’re proud to have been a mainstay in Atlantic City for the past 10 years, and we’re having as much fun as ever,” chef owner Pernot said in a recent press release. “We want to pause and celebrate a bit with everyone who has helped us to make it this far.”
Through the entire month of November, guests can enjoy a trio of specials to celebrate the occasion. $10 food and drink specials include a specialty cocktail, a discount dish and a decadent dessert special.
The 10th Anniversary Blood Orange Mojito is the drink of the month. Bartenders combine Matusalem Gran Reserva rum with fresh blood orange, lime and guarapo-- a sugary palm liquid.
If mojitos aren’t your style, opt to celebrate with the special dish, Paella Arancini Croquetas. Savory croquettes of seafood paella with shrimp, clams and mussels are served with Calasparra rice with a romesco sauce. Or score 10 empanadas for $10, at the bar on Wednesdays during Happy Hour. There’s also a $10 coffee or tea and dessert special, for those who wish to skip the strong stuff.
The menu is designed to celebrate this milestone with pairings that you can’t get anywhere else, right at home at the Jersey Shore.
