Where to Get Growlers Filled at the NJ Shore

by Drink NJ Shore on May 13, 2014 in Beer

A half-gallon of awesomeness, better known as a growler, can be a difficult thing to come by when vacationing at the NJ Shore. But with the growing number of bars adopting a more serious approach to their draft selections and craft breweries popping up all over South Jersey, it is indeed getting easier. Provided you know where to look. Check out the places listed below for you next fill-up. And if you know of a growler filling station that we missed, be sure to let us know on Facebook or Twitter.

Long Beach Island

Spirits Unlimited (Route 9 and Bay Avenue, Barnegat; 609-698-5977)
This mainland wine and spirits store has a filling station, growlers and regular rotation of solid craft beers to fill them.

The Arlington (1302 Long Beach Blvd., Ship Bottom; 609-494-8848)
This craft beer bar in Ship Bottom has 22 taps and a beer engine at the ready to fill your growlers.

Pinelands Brewing (140 South 7th Avenue, Suite 15, Little Egg Harbor; 609-296-6169)
The newly opened craft brewery is the perfect destination for a rainy day at the beach, or a sunny day that calls for 64 oz. of delicious craft brewed beer. Suds in regular rotation include Masons Wheat, Evergreen IPA, Pitch Pine Ale (Voted Best New Jersey Brewed at 2014 AC Beer Fest), and Cannonball Stout.

Atlantic City

Atlantic City Bottle Company (648 N Albany Ave., Atlantic City; 609-348-6400)
Not your run-of-the-mill liquor store, this out of the way spot — directly across the street from Bader Field — is something of a retreat for true connoisseurs. Within all the cult beers, carefully curated wines and hard-to-find whiskeys and spirits are two taps dedicated to filling growlers.

Tun Tavern (2 Convention Blvd., Atlantic City; 609-347-7800)
The bar sells growlers to go. Twenty bucks gets you the glass jug and beer to fill it. Refills run just $12, and the seventh fill is free.

Sommers Point–Ocean City

Passion Vines (265 New Rd., Somers Point; 888-601-8463)
This liquor store has it all, including growler fills.

Cape May

Cape May Brewing (1288 Hornet Rd., Rio Grande; 609-849-9933)
Located just 10 minutes away from the beautiful beaches of Cape May and Wildwood, this craft brewery has lively tap room where you can get growlers filled with any of the 20 or so beers on tap.
