20 Places to Rehydrate With a Beer After Running the Philadelphia Marathon

Science proves that beer is better than water
20 Places to Rehydrate With a Beer After Running the Philadelphia Marathon
With the Philadelphia Marathon coming up this weekend, we thought it would behoove those participating to remind them that beer is much better for rehydration and recovery after strenuous exercise.

And that bit of public service isn’t just some wet-brained, half-baked logic we came up with over a few too many citywides. Scientists have labored over of tests and experiments to prove it.

So no matter if you’re running the marathon, the half-marathon or the 8k, forgo the Gatorade and other so-called sports drinks, and go for a cold one when you reach the finish line.

The marathon and related runs all start and finish near Eakins Oval, which means perhaps Cherry Street Tavern and Bishop’s Collar are the two closest and most obvious choices. But since those two spots can’t accommodate every participating runner all at once, below are our top picks for where to grab a post-run beer.
