This Now Exists: 50 Shades of Grey Wine
What does a fiction author know about wine? The question is mostly inconsequential. What Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James does know is how to get people’s attention and tap into their secret passions, and now she’s bringing that passion prowess to vino with Fifty Shades of Grey wine.
"Wine plays an important role in Fifty Shades of Grey, reflecting the sensuality that pervades every encounter between Anastasia and Christian,” James explains. The writer took that feeling, that role, and traveled to the California coast to personally create a white and a red blend to bottle under the 50 Shades label.
White Silk is a mix of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc, and the flavor profile is described as having grapefruit, mineral and pear. If you like your bed sheets (or wine) more thickly lush, go for Red Satin, a Petite Sirah and Syrah blend that sports black cherry and cocoa powder notes.
The 50 Shades of Grey wines retail for around $17.99 per bottle, and are available at multiple online liquor vendors. Anyone have an occasion coming up that calls for this kind of thing?
