Dress Up for the Animals at Denver Zoo's Do at the Zoo, June 20

Who wears a suit and tie to the zoo? You do, or you might for Denver Zoo's 24th annual Do at the Zoo cocktail party if you want to join the fun of one of the city’s biggest and most unique events.

Held on Thursday, June 20, Do at the Zoo is a chance for zoo patrons to get dressed up and enjoy an evening of exotic food and drink while watching the zoo’s exotic animals during their most active time of day — twilight. Guests will also enjoy live entertainment throughout the park during the party, which runs from 7–10 PM. More than 60 of Denver’s best restaurants will provide the eats, including Appaloosa Grill, Black Pearl, Chart House, Gaetano’s, Lala’s Wine Bar, Linger, Marlowe’s, Tamayo, Vesta Dippling Grill, Wazee Supper Club, and Wynkoop Brewing.

The featured specialty cocktail will be the Orangu Tang, a mix of Regatta ginger beer, Svedka Orange Cream Pop vodka and a sprig of lime. The drink is a play on the Moscow Mule and was created by Republic National Distributing, the event’s liquor sponsor. The zoo used a Facebook contest by fans to come up with the cute name.

Tickets are $175 and available here. VIP tickets are unfortunately already sold out, but if you know anyone who you can convince to take you as a guest, give it a try. The special VIP party will run from 6–7 PM at the zoo’s Kamala Café in the Toyota Elephant Passage, featuring food from Edge Restaurant and Bar and the Four Seasons. There will also be special up-close animal encounters and valet parking for VIP guests.

In 24 years the event has raised over $10.5 million for the zoo’s sustainability efforts. The Denver Zoo has been named the greenest zoo in the country by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and is encouraging guests to be green as well by carpooling and using public transportation to get to the event. (Also a good idea if you want to try out all the cocktails!)
